Dental camp

Yesterday (15th June) had been an eventful day for all of us at Aashayein. Dental Camp was organised which was a great success.
Highlights of the events:

1. 27 kids were for the thoroughly checked from the near by slums of Timarpur area.
2. Detailed case sheets were filed for each kid by the interns.
3. Scaling and restorative procedures were carried out for the kids.
4. Surprisingly, a few kids like Rehan, Chandini didnt have any oral findings in their mouth.
5. All the kids were shown the powerpoint presentations on the importance of Hygiene and Oral hygiene.
6. Kids were also demonstrated the proper brushing technique.
7. All the kids were given betadine rinses after scaling procedures.

Note:-
Tanu, 4yrs old suffers from Rampant Caries, which is a severe condition involving all the teeth in the mouth.
A few kids, needs extraction of certain grossly decayed teeth and in few cases Root Canal Treatment is required.
Children were advised to use warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day.

Follow up-
-We will be interacting with the parents of the kids who are in need of immediate treatment and will refer them to a near by governemnt hospital such as Bada Hindu Rao.
-We even look forward to arrange another camp in a few months so that their oral hygiene status can be reevaluated.
